Platform Dependency

Happy Tuesday Brex Community,
X is out here tweaking the knobs again, and this time they’re coming for the creator payout structure. It’s the same old song and dance, but it serves as a loud-and-clear wake-up call: whether you’re a massive startup or a solo creator, building your entire house on someone else's land is a risky bet.
History is littered with "platform rug-pulls" where the rules were changed unilaterally overnight. We’ve seen it happen across the board:
Facebook: Famous for the "pivot to video" and killing organic reach for businesses.
Reddit & Twitter/X: Charging massive fees for API access, effectively pricing out third-party developers.
TikTok: Constantly shifting the goalposts on what gets amplified or monetized.
Anthropic: Most recently with the OpenClaw situation, proving that even the new AI titans aren't immune to sudden shifts in how they play with others.
As we weave AI deeper into our daily workflows and personal lives, the stakes are getting higher. We’re becoming reliant on specific models and interfaces to do our thinking and heavy lifting. It’s not a question of if these AI platforms will pivot, restrict access, or hike prices—it’s just a matter of when.
The convenience is great, but don't let it make you soft. Diversify your tools, keep your data portable, and always have a Plan B that doesn't rely on a single login. The disruption is coming; make sure you’re the one holding the umbrella when the weather shifts. Be prepared.
Have a great week!

Congrats to Sirius for launching!
Problem: Modern consumer brands face a critical dilemma as the cost of acquiring new customers skyrockets while their existing data remains trapped in fragmented silos. Most companies are drowning in customer information but lack the tools to turn that data into meaningful action, leading to generic marketing campaigns and high churn rates. This problem is compounded by a shift toward privacy-first regulations that make traditional tracking methods obsolete, leaving brands struggling to maintain loyalty without the proper infrastructure.
Solution: Sirius addresses this by providing an AI-native engagement layer that acts as an automated engine for customer retention. Their platform replaces manual, rule-based workflows with intelligent journey orchestration and predictive insights that identify exactly when and how to re-engage a user before they leave. By leveraging generative AI to personalize content and select the most effective communication channels in real-time, the solution transforms a static database into a proactive system of action that fosters genuine trust.
Why now: The timing of this solution is driven by the convergence of generative AI breakthroughs and the urgent need for operational efficiency in a volatile economy. Now that technology can finally interpret complex human behavior at scale, businesses are moving away from bloated, manual marketing teams in favor of high-performance automation. Sirius capitalizes on this shift by helping brands master their first-party data to drive sustainable growth, ensuring that every customer interaction is both privacy-compliant and uniquely relevant.
