'The 'dog days' often come with shifts in the market, making it pivotal for startups and investors to stay sharp and rethink strategies. With vacations ending and schools reopening, financing is on the rise and there's a real "make or break" feel. Now’s the time to step up.

Word on the street is there's a growing sense of optimism in the market, and all signs point to platforms outperforming single-product companies. The best thing founders can do right now is focus on core metrics like unit economics, realistic assumptions in financial models, and genuine product traction. Try not to get lost in the valuation buzz or the ever-changing sentiment on deal terms. Keep it simple and real.

Indie VC and The “Low-Budget Startup” 📈

The TL;DR on Bryce Robert’s recent Medium post? The GP at Indie VC claims that “with recent, terminal changes in the funding market, we may be entering the age of the low-budget startup” and predicts the following:

  • “We’re about to see the biggest wave of SV-educated founders in history

  • These founders will build independent, innovative businesses that will change the world

  • They’ll look for new, more sustainable funding models that preserve optionality and control"
